Systems Integration Engineer

Design integrated audio-video, lighting control, security, and automation systems—from engineering plans through installation.

Duties: Design, specification and installation of uniquely individually tailored, easy-to-use, fully integrated electronic systems for audio-video, lighting control, communications, specialty security, home automation systems, and more. Develop engineering and architectural (RCP/Floor Plan) drawings, calculations, and acoustical modeling. Review pre-construction design and documentation. Assist with technical design, pricing and identify any logistical challenges. Design low voltage lighting control systems. Perform load and voltage drop calculations lighting control systems. Provide engineering support to project installation. Meet with vendors/prospective vendors to help evaluate products. Supervise electrical engineers.

Requirements: Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering or Electrical Engineering and 2 years of experience in the job offered or 2 years of experience in a related field.

About Us

Systems Design and Integration is a North Miami–based high-end residential integration company specializing in custom home technology solutions. Our work includes sophisticated automation, lighting control, networking, and luxury home theaters. We are known for quality craftsmanship, clean installs, and long-term client relationships.

We are seeking an experienced Lead A/V Installer with hands-on Crestron, Lutron, and Control4 configuration experience who can run jobs, mentor technicians, and deliver high-quality systems from rough-in to final commissioning.

This Role Is Not Entry-Level

We are specifically looking for a senior installer / lead technician who has real-world experience configuring and commissioning Control4 and Crestron systems—not just device installation.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional A/V installation experience.
  • Working knowledge of Crestron / SIMPL systems.
  • System configuration and device integration experience.
  • Hands-on experience configuring Crestron Home systems.
  • Hands-on experience configuring Lutron lighting systems.
  • Hands-on experience configuring Control4 systems.
  • Device identification.
  • Network setup and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of residential networking, including managed switches, VLAN basics, and structured wiring.
  • Strong understanding of low-voltage cabling standards.
  • Ability to read system schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to lead installations and manage job-site workflow.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • English required, spoken and written.
  • Spanish is a strong plus.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Team-oriented, reliable, and detail-focused.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead residential A/V and automation installations from start to completion.
  • Configure and commission Crestron, Lutron, and Control4 systems.
  • Pull, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling.
  • Troubleshoot system, networking, and integration issues.
  • Ensure install quality and system reliability.
  • Train clients on system usage.
  • Mentor junior technicians and enforce installation standards.
  • Coordinate with project management and design teams.

Certifications and Screening

  • CEDIA or other trade-related certifications desired.
  • OSHA certification is a plus.
  • Background check / drug testing.
